Overview
We’ve been putting the CHC Apache 4 through its paces, and it delivers. Now available to hire, this unmanned surface vessel offers a safer, smarter solution for hydrographic surveys.
Smarter, Safer Surveying
Built for efficiency and ease of use, even in tough water conditions, the Apache 4 is a cost-effective alternative to traditional boat surveys. Compact and rugged, it’s ideal for hard-to-access or high-risk environments. It is fully autonomous and is operated from shore, meaning it reduces site risk while increasing productivity.
With its high-precision GNSS and 200Hz IMU, the Apache 4 maintains consistent positioning and heading, critical for tasks like ADCP surveys. The integration of RTK, NTRIP, and PPK ensures accurate data capture throughout.
Furthermore, the included AutoPlanner and HydroSurvey software simplify mission setup and data processing. From defining the survey area to exporting results, the system supports a smooth, efficient workflow.

Versatile equipment
From our testing, the Apache 4 has shown it can be used for a variety of survey jobs. Its rugged design works well in hard-to-reach or hazardous environments like rivers, reservoirs, and coastal areas. It’s especially useful for environmental monitoring, flood risk assessment and marine infrastructure inspections, providing accurate data without putting operators at risk.
The ability to carry multiple sensors also means it can adapt to different project needs, whether that’s bathymetric surveys, hydrographic mapping, or geophysical studies. This makes the Apache 4 a versatile choice for a wide range of surveying applications.
